To My Readers
Well, I am taking a bit of a break from the normal postings I generally do and will give all my readers an update on my life. I am stuck doing drill this weekend. Most of the unit is in Afghanistan right now supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. Out of my sixteen man shop there are two of us left. Because there is no one here we cannot fully support any missions and so our job for the weekend is to look occupied and busy while really we are doing nothing. Because of strict guidelines I am not allowed to do much but somehow my blogger site has not been blocked by the base's comptuer administrators.
Life is moving on swiftly. There are only 56 days left until Rachel and I get married. She has been splendid at planning our big day and I am so thankful for that-she really is wonderful. The big stuff is planned now it comes down to the little stuff (who would have thought there is so much to plan for a wedding?). Excitement and anticipation seize my heart daily (something I find I must surrender to the Lord at all times). How eager I am for our marriage but how much more eager I am for the True Marriage when our Groom shall come and forever claim his Bride. We started our marriage counseling this week which will hopefully prove to be a fruitful time. We found a subleasor for Rachel's place-an awesome demonstration of the faithfulness of our Father. We begin moving our stuff into the new apartment in early December.
School is progressing. We just finished with our midterms which is always a kick in the pants to get back on track. It has been incredibly hectic and busy and it seems everytime you hand one paper in another is due and on top of that your profs dump test after test on you...but really, it's not that bad. I've picked up some extra hours at work so we can save a little bit of money before the wedding. I'm working on average right around 25 hours a week and Rachel between 25-30. I'm employed by the University and fix faculty's computers and set up new systems, I've been doing that for around two years. It certainly isn't the most glorious job but it does help pay the bills. Rachel is working at TGI Friday's as a server and was recently hired on to help in the kitchen.
It appears as if this spring I will be putting my application in to come under the Presbytery. This is something I am greatly looking forward to and trust that the Lord will use it to reveal further my path for life (ministry or not). In April I will go before the board and plead my cause and from there they will determine whether they want to take me under their care.
I am also learning beginners Greek. This has been incredible and it is so fun to open a Greek Bible and begin reading in the original language. Pastor Jeff set this class up for Wednesday mornings at 6:30, pretty early but well worth it.
I am currently leading an off campus Bible study. We are going through the book of Matthew and the Lord has been ever gracious to us. We are working through chapter 3, one of my favorite chapters in the whole book. We talked this week about repentance which was very convicting and definately pricked my heart (how thankful I am that we have been granted this great treasure in the Word!).
Aside from all the responsibilities an employee, student, and fiance have I am finding some good time for myself. I am trying to be faithful in reading more so my goal is one book a week. This usually entails sacraficing something (which ends up being sleep-much to Rachel's frustration) but I figure there is so much worth reading out there and so little I know. My prayer is that whatever I learn the Holy Spirit may show me how to let it resonate in my life, who wants empty useless knowledge? The other way I look at it is the quicker I read the books I have now the sooner I will be able to get some more (books just might be my blessing and curse). I'm thankful to Pastor Jeff for letting me dip into his plentiful library as well.
My weekends are staying plenty busy. I had the oppurtunity to visit some good friends near Duluth last weekend. What a blessing that proved to be! We had a splendid day spending time running around in their woods (and riding the bucking branch) and reflecting on the goodness of our God. And like I said I have a drill weekend today and tomorrow and next weekend Rachel and I will be spending some time in Austin and Fairmont, we are finally going to get our registration done!
Well, that's about it on this side of things. The Lord is gracious and compassionate, abounding in steadfast love and this become more and more evident every day. Many blessings to you all may you be found in our Master's good grip.
Grace and Peace,
KMB
